French 75

Tis' the season for celebration, sparkling wine, and champagne!  The French 75 is the prefect champagne drink, but be careful this drink comes with a kick!

Ingredients
  • 2 oz Waterloo Gin
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • Champagne or sparkling wine
Directions
  1. Place gin, simple syrup, and lemon juice in a chilled champagne flute.
  2. Top with champagne or sparkling wine
  3. Garnish with a lemon twist
Wanna know alittle history behind the drink?

It is believed that the drink was created in 1915 in Paris at Harry's New York Bar (I know a New York Bar in Paris? Go figure!).  The combination of gin, lemon juice, and champagne was said to pack a punch like the powerful French 75mm field gun.  It was from this comparsion the name French 75 was born.
